NSA, Security Chiefs to Address Nigeria Over Trump’s Military Threat

The development comes amid growing diplomatic attention on the U.S. President’s comments, which have sparked widespread reactions across Nigeria and beyond.

Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, disclosed this during the National Joint Security Press Briefing in Abuja.

Issa-Onilu dismissed President Trump’s claims as false and misleading, describing them as another failure of U.S. intelligence.

“This is not the first time that American intelligence has failed. It failed in Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan, and this is yet another error,” Issa-Onilu said.

He stressed that while Nigeria continues to confront security challenges, the situation does not justify the inflammatory narrative being pushed by the U.S. President.

“The Federal Government remains firmly committed to combating terrorism, ensuring the safety of all Nigerians, and promoting religious harmony,” he added.

Issa-Onilu urged the media to exercise restraint and professionalism in reporting sensitive security matters to avoid amplifying misinformation capable of inciting division or panic.

According to him, the NSA’s upcoming briefing will provide additional details on the government’s position and reaffirm Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to peace, religious tolerance, and national unity.
