People Scamper For Safety As Suspected Political Thugs Distrupt ADC Exco Inauguration In Ekiti

By Ayodele Abere

The first sinister observation was debris of burnt canopies inside the premises of the secretariat said to had been erected the previous night  in a bid to fast-track arrangements. But it was alleged that political thugs razed the canopies to sabotage.

The state leadership and other members who turned up in their numbers took the option of relocating to the open space in front of the secretariat along Police Headquarters,  Old Iyin Road. Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.

At about noon as the music stand was dishing out some evergreen fine yoruba songs, the alleged hoodlums struck, shooting sporadically, forcing everyone to run helter skelter.

The ugly episode took place few minutes after the State Chairman of the party announced that the National Secretary of the ADC, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and other high ranking officers were almost getting to Ekiti, urging members to be patient.

Putting a call across to one of the governorship aspirants of the party in the State, Ambassador Dare Bejide, to find out what could have been responsible for such, he simply described the action as barbaric stating that democracy is about joy and freedom of association.

Adding that those who perpetrated the evil are enemies and that investigation is ongoing to fish them out.
