The Traditional Ruler of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rufus Adejugbe Aladesanmi III, has called on President Bola Tinubu to fix all local refineries across the country in a bid to bring an end to hike in the price of premium motor spirit (PMS).
The Monarch stated this on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital during his tour across all Local Council Development Areas, in preparation for 2023 Udiroko celebration
Oba Adejugbe attributed the abandonment of the local refineries to the onus of the current pangs on Nigerians, adding that every thing will be alright if President Tinubu contrive ways to fix the refineries.
Speaking on the distribution of palliatives, he advised the Governments at all levels to channel the packages to the poorest of the poor who are the real beneficiaries of the palliatives fund.
In his words, “We want to appeal to the Federal and State government to channel the palliatives to the poor people.
“The money gained on the fuel subsidy should be channeled to the infrastructure of this country by fixing our local refineries. If the refineries are fixed, fuel price will come down.
“I want to appeal to Nigerians, I know it’s hard. They should bear with the federal government because the president means well for this Country.”
Speaking on the essence of the tour as it’s the first of its kind, the monarch said he wants the people of the state capital to see how valuable they are and to sensitise them on the need to participate in the festival, adding that it’s the most historic and significant traditional celebration in Ado-Ekiti.
The LCDAs visited by the Monarch include Orungbe and Olorunsogo (Ado North Local Government), Ado West local government and Ado Central Local Government.
While receiving the Monarch, an advocate and partaker of developments in Ado North, Oluwole Orungbe hailed the Monarch’s giant strides and congratulated him on the festival, adding that he’ll progress in making sure that developments shine in his localities.
