Wike Hits Back at Tambuwal, Accuses Him of Betrayal

Wike spoke on Thursday while featuring on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, where he dismissed Tambuwal’s recent comments declaring loyalty to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over him.

“What do you mean by leadership and friendship? You cannot talk about leadership and ignore the person,” Wike said.

He described Tambuwal and Atiku as politicians who “have been consistently inconsistent,” adding: “When you are a consistent betrayer, what do you expect?”

The minister alleged that Tambuwal’s preference for Atiku was tied to his personal ambition, claiming the former governor had his eyes on a Senate leadership position if Atiku had won the 2023 presidential election.

Earlier this month, Tambuwal, while also appearing on Politics Today, openly declared: “When it comes to leadership of this country and leadership of the people, I would rather support Atiku than Nyesom Wike.”

Wike insisted that such shifting allegiances showed that both men put personal gain above party loyalty.
