Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has confirmed that his political rift with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has been resolved following the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statewide broadcast, Governor Fubara said the peace agreement was reached to restore stability and ensure the progress of the state after months of political tension.

According to him, President Tinubu played a central role in brokering the truce that involved himself, his predecessor Wike, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
“In the course of the six-month period, Mr President graciously brokered the peace process with all the parties successfully. Our Leader, His Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly and I, as your Governor, have all accepted to bury the hatchet and embrace peace and reconciliation in the best interest of our dear Rivers State,” he said.
Governor Fubara added that the crisis, though challenging, offered important lessons for political actors in the state.
“We believe the political crisis is now behind us and that peace and stability have once again returned to Rivers State, though not without the hard lessons learnt,” he said.
The reconciliation follows the lifting of the six-month emergency rule declared in March 2025 by President Tinubu, which saw the suspension of Fubara, his deputy, and the State House of Assembly amid a political and legislative standoff.
