I Won’t Disappoint Oyebanji, Ekiti Obas, Says New Traditional Council Chairman. …..Commends Oyebanji’s respect for monarchs

The new Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers and Olojudo of Ido- Ekiti, Oba Ayorinde Ilori Faboro, has described the respect being exhibited by Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s for traditional institution as unrivaled in the Ekiti history.

Oba Faboro was upbeat that the council would wax stronger and deliver on the mandate of ensuring peace and stability across towns in the state with the seemingly invincible cord of relationship that exists between the monarchs and Oyebanji’s government.

The revered monarch made the remarks, on Tuesday, when he led a delegation, comprising his colleagues and chiefs on a thank you visit to the Governor’s office on his appointment.

The monarch’s delegation, was received by the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye.

Governor Oyebanji on Monday announced the appointment of Olojudo as the new Chairman, who will preside over the council for two years, after the expiration of the immediate past Chairman and Onisan of Isan Ekiti, Oba Gabriel Ayodele Adejuwon.

Speaking at the event, the monarch, averred that his being appointed into the strategic position was long overdue, saying his colleagues and people in his kingdom, had been agitated about why his stool was being excluded from occupying the coveted chairmanship seat.

“My people have been asking me questions why I have not been made the chairman of the traditional council, but I waited patiently for God’s appointed time.

“It was in history that it was the Ekiti traditional rulers that begged and worked for the creation of Ekiti State. Governor Oyebanji knew how the monarchs worked for the creation of our dear state, so he is our representative in government.

“I am here to thank Mr Governor. He has done well for us. The job you have given to me, I will do it and succeed. I know you are here to make Ekiti great, we shall succeed together. I assure you, I will serve you to the best of my knowledge.

“Our governor is a typical Omoluabi and this he has brought into governance. Little wonder, we are having a governor who has the best and unparalleled respect for traditional rulers in Ekiti history”.

The Chairman, Ido/Osi Local Government Area of the State, Hon. Sola Ogunsina, appreciated the governor for counting the council worthy of being appointed into the exalted seat.

“We had this opportunity last 40 years ago under Ondo State. We ought to have been nominated before now, but we waited and we appreciate God that this was happening under the government of of Governor Oyebanji.

“I can assure you, your Excellency, we are not going to disappoint you. Our Kabiyesi is down to earth. He is straightforward. He will deploy his quality into this job and do well in this position. The governor respects for traditional rulers”.

In her response, Mrs Afuye, urged the monarch to work assiduously and collaborate with government to make Ekiti better in all facets of the economy.

She described the council as the fulcrum on which development, peace and stability are anchored, and that this could only be attained if it fosters strong partnership with Oyebanji’s government.

“I want to rejoice with you Kabiyesi on this appointment. We are assuring you that we will partner you to make your reign memorable. What Governor Oyebanji did to you was a honour and you must reciprocate the gesture by partnering the government for sustainable peace and development across all the local governments.

“We know the value of traditional institution in the maintenance of peace in our society. We are not going to take this for granted. It was in recognition of this that the governor built a new ultra modern Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Chamber in Ado Ekiti.
