Women FIFA World Cup: SESC Decries Deliberate Visa Delay By Australian Embassy

By Teniola Blessing

As the Nigerian Super Falcons set for their sixth appearances in the FIFA Women World with a first game fixture against Canada at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium early hours of Friday, the Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC) that oath to have been at the venue to cheer the team to victory are still being held by Australian Embassy.

The leadership of SESC under Prince Vincent Okumagba are suspecting a foul-play having submitted all required relevant documents but yet still awaiting visa from the Australian Embassy.

The investigation revealed that all the supporters clubs in the country are suffering the same fate from the hands of Australian Embassy which gives room for the suspicion of deliberate visa delay probably to reduce the numerical strength of Nigerians in the stadium when Super Falcons confront Australia.

“Nigeria will take on Australia at the Suncorp stadium on July 27, 2023 in their second group game, and if a care is not taking we might not be able to be at stadium to cheer our girls”, said Okumagba

He added that “till am talking to you, the embassy could not come up with any substantial reason for the delay in issuing us our visas despite summiting  every required documents early enough”.

Going by reactions from the many supporters’ clubs, they have unanimously opined that the Australian embassy is intentionally delaying their Visa approval just to neutralize Nigeria’s numerical strength when the Falcons play the host Nation.
