Former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has temporarily suspended his public engagements on medical advice.
Obi said he began feeling unwell while attending a tourism event in Enugu, prompting him to seek medical attention.
“Earlier in Enugu, I was not feeling well. I visited the hospital where the doctor gave me some medication and advised me to take a day or two days rest,” he disclosed.
The politician later travelled to Anambra State, where he donated ₦10 million to support the revitalisation of the Good Hope Specialist Hospital in Isulo. He, however, noted that his health challenge would prevent him from honouring some local and international commitments.
“I sincerely apologise for any inconveniences this might cause and humbly plead for understanding,” Obi said.
Despite the setback, he restated his commitment to improving healthcare in Nigeria, stressing the need for greater investment in hospitals and training institutions to drive national development.
