Brazilian football star Neymar could inherit one of the most unusual fortunes in sports history after being named the sole beneficiary of a billionaire’s estate reportedly worth £846 million ($1.11 billion).
According to Brazilian outlet RIC, the unnamed businessman, believed to be from Porto Alegre, formalised his will on June 12 in the presence of two witnesses. The document, now before a Brazilian court, lists Neymar as the only heir.
The billionaire, who was unmarried and without children, is said to have admired the 33-year-old forward’s close bond with his father, Neymar Sr., which reminded him of his own late father.
Neymar has yet to comment on the reports. If confirmed, the inheritance would be one of the most remarkable in football history.
