Popular Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Raji Adetola, popularly known as Mr Sanku Comedy, has died from injuries sustained in a car accident along the Oyo–Ogbomoso road in Ibadan.
The accident, which occurred on Monday, involved Sanku and a friend whose condition remained unclear as at press time. Witnesses said the vehicle veered into a ditch, with videos of the incident circulating online.
Sanku was rushed to Bowen Hospital but was later confirmed dead. Actress Funmi Awelewa, who confirmed the news on Instagram, said she had initially been informed he was responding to treatment.
Colleagues and fans have since taken to social media to mourn him. Skit maker Ozain Comedy wrote “Rest well, soldier,” while TikTok influencer Jidex also confirmed the death.
Mr Sanku, who started content creation in 2021, was popular for his unique storytelling style. Hours before the crash, he shared a video on TikTok where he prayed not to lose his life just as he was beginning to reap the fruits of his work.
