The Young Progressive Party (YPP) in Osun State has expressed great concern over the ongoing seizure of local government allocations in Osun State.
Since March 2025, the federal government has withheld allocations to the 30 local governments of the State, precipitating a contentious debate between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

Highlighting the adverse effects on governance and service delivery at the grassroots level, statement by the YPP Chairman in Osun State, Hon. Enoch Olalekan reveals that the continued seizure of local government allocations, has severely impacted governance and service delivery in Osun State negatively.
The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), has expressed concerns that the prolonged withholding of funds would cripple local government functionality, exacerbating hardship for the people.
However, the YPP therefore advocates the release of withheld allocations to ensure effective governance and service delivery at the local level.
The party urges the federal government to prioritize the needs of local governments and the people they serve. It is imperative for all stakeholders to prioritize the welfare of the people and work towards a solution that promotes good governance, and development in Osun State.
The ongoing seizure of local government allocations in the State has severe implications for governance and service delivery. As a champion of the people, the Young Progressive Party (YPP) emphasizes the urgent need for a resolution to the crisis.
“We believe that local governments must receive the necessary funds to function effectively and provide essential services to the people, because our commitment is to the people”.
As we look forward to the 2026 elections, the YPP is poised to take the mantle of power through a credible and people-driven mandate.
“Our watchword is simple: SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE..”We are dedicated to putting the needs of our citizens first and working tirelessly to build a brighter future for Osun State”.
