The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed that popular Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, was involved in a breach of aviation regulations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, FAAN said investigations revealed that the veteran artiste attempted to board a ValueJet flight (VK 201) to Lagos on Monday with an “unidentified liquid substance” in a flask — later discovered to be alcohol — despite repeated warnings from airport security and the flight crew.

The incident, according to FAAN, contributed to the suspension of two ValueJet pilots by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), which earlier announced that the flight commenced taxiing procedures without proper clearance.
FAAN’s statement noted: “The passenger was informed of the regulation that restricts liquids exceeding 100ml through security screening unless medically necessary and properly declared. However, the passenger reportedly declined to comply.”
The agency explained that when the musician was approached by an aviation security (AVSEC) officer for clarification, he allegedly refused and poured the contents of the flask on the officer. It was later confirmed to be alcohol — a substance prohibited onboard aircraft in Nigeria.
Efforts by the flight captain to intervene were reportedly met with further resistance. After the aircraft doors were shut, K1 allegedly moved to the front of the plane and refused to vacate the area, despite repeated pleas. He was later escorted away by the AVSEC crime unit for questioning and subsequently released.
FAAN warned that it would not condone any behaviour that compromises the integrity of airport operations or aviation safety standards.
“The matter remains under investigation, and any individual found culpable will be held accountable in line with the law,” the statement added.
This latest development follows earlier reports by the NCAA that described the pilot’s decision to move the aircraft without proper clearance as a serious safety breach. The NCAA has since suspended both the pilot, Captain Oluranti Ogoyi, and the co-pilot, First Officer Ivan Oloba, pending the outcome of investigations.
K1’s media aide had earlier denied allegations of misconduct, saying the content in the flask was ordinary drinking water and that the situation was misrepresented.
Meanwhile, ValueJet has also removed the affected crew from active duty while it conducts an internal investigation.
The incident continues to generate public interest, especially as conflicting accounts emerge from both the aviation authorities and the musician’s team.
