Troops Neutralises Terrorists, Arrests Suspects, Recovers Arms in Nationwide Operations

A top military source at the Army Headquarters disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, noting that troops had intensified their operations across all theatres nationwide.

Successful Operations in the North-East

In Borno State, troops of 151 Task Force Battalion reportedly killed a terrorist during an ambush around the Sabsawa area of Bama Local Government Area. The soldiers recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

Similarly, troops of 192 Battalion neutralised another terrorist along the Pulka–Ngoshe road in Gwoza Local Government Area and recovered an AK-47 rifle. Blood trails at the scene suggested that more terrorists may have escaped with injuries.

In another development, five family members of ISWAP/JAS terrorists — two adult females and three children — surrendered to troops at Banki Junction, also in Bama LGA, after fleeing from Bula Daloye village.

Additionally, troops of 50 Task Force Battalion and 134 Special Forces Battalion recovered two artillery shells during an ambush operation along the Marte–Dikwa axis in Dikwa LGA.

Arrests in Lagos, Abuja, and the South-East

In Lagos State, troops of 9 Brigade arrested 12 individuals dressed in military uniforms and parading themselves as officers and cadets of a fake military corps at Ojota.

Also in the Federal Capital Territory, operatives of Operation SWEEP apprehended a suspect dressed in woodland camouflage gear at Waru in Abuja Municipal Area Council.

Meanwhile, in the South-East, troops of 145 Battalion arrested two suspected cultists in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State. Two locally made pistols, six cartridges, and other items were recovered from the suspects.

Illegal Oil Activities Foiled in Rivers

In Rivers State, troops of 343 Artillery Regiment intercepted two wooden boats transporting about 400 litres of illegally refined condensate in Onelga Local Government Area. The suspects fled on sighting the troops.

Army Reaffirms Commitment

The Army has reaffirmed its determination to rid the country of all forms of criminality and restore lasting peace across Nigeria. The military says it remains committed to intensifying operations until total security is achieved nationwide.
