Ekiti Speaker Mourns Buhari, Describes Death as National Loss

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Babajide Agbeyo, the Speaker recalled Buhari’s historic victory in the 2015 presidential election, where he became the first opposition candidate to defeat a sitting president.

“President Muhammadu Buhari will be remembered as a man of discipline who earned the trust of millions through his consistency and strong character,” Aribasoye stated.

He noted that Buhari’s emergence in 2015 was a turning point in Nigeria’s democratic journey and brought renewed hope to many Nigerians who believed in change through the ballot.

The Speaker acknowledged the efforts of the late President during his time in office, especially in the areas of national security, institutional reforms, and strengthening the credibility of electoral processes.

“Though opinions may differ, history will remember President Buhari for giving his best to the nation, particularly in the fight against insurgency and his commitment to democratic governance,” he added.

Aribasoye also extended his condolences to President Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Buhari family, and Nigerians at large, urging all to find comfort in the enduring legacy left behind by the late statesman.
