ELECTRIFICATION: Ekiti Community Demands Oyebanji’s Urgent Intervention

By Iremide Olukayode

The residents numbering over One Hundred and Fifty (150) called on the governor to assist them in fast-tracking the project to  make life better for the occupants.

Speaking with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the chairman. Landlords and Landladies Association of the Rock Arena Community, Mr Samuel Ajayi disclosed that residents of the community have been in darkness for over five years after so many efforts have been made without yielding any positive results.

His words: “We have written many letters for assistance just to get it done. This time around, we the entire Landlords and Land ladies of the the Rock Arena Community hereby request for the electrification and transformer of the Arena from our loving Governor.

“Rock Arena is a fast-growing community of not less than One Hundred and Fifty (150) houses located along new Ado-Iyin road in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, and less than half (1/2) a kilometer to Corper’s Lodge where the facility (Electricity) terminated.

“We have been battling with this since 2020 as a community but we are not financially buoyant. We like to seek your indulgence as a listening Governor to assist us in bringing light to the Community, because we know and have knowledge of good and valuable projects you are doing in the state.

Mr Ajayi hoping that by the time electrification is done, it will improve and boost the economy of the state and thereby enhance the standard of living of the people residing in the community.

Another resident who spoke with our Correspondent, Mrs Ilori Oluwayemisi, appealed to the Ekiti State Community and Social Development Agency (EKSCDA), to respond to the cries of the people living in the area, saying if done, , it will not only improve the lives of the residents of the area but also help the security and discourage criminal activities.

“We are appealing to the governor and other stakeholders to help us out. We have been living in darkness for several years now and that is why we are soliciting for his assistance”.

She also reminded Governor Oyebanji of  rehabilitation of the two access roads linking the Arena so as to make life bearable for them.

The community leaders however, assured the governor of  their unalloyed community support to take Ekiti to a greater height, adding that they stand solidly behind the administration ofOyebanji.
