Ekiti SUBEB Boss Lauds Gov.Oyebanji Over Schools Development … As SUBEB Trains School Support Officers

The training which took place at Komt Hotel, Ido Ekiti was also designed to support and transform the basic education system in the state with focus on effective mentoring and monitoring of Teachers Professional Development towards improving the quality of education in the state.

Addressing participants at the workshop, the Executive Chairman of Ekiti SUBEB, Prof. Femi Akinwumi expressed delight over the pragmatic approach of the State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji to development of basic education, noting that the various government interventions have impacted positively on overall development of education in the state.

Prof. Akinwumi reiterated the achievements of the governor in basic education to include consistent payment of counterpart funds to UBEC, infrastructural development of primary schools, establishment of mega basic schools in each local government areas, Digitization of basic schools, prioritizing of teachers’ welfare, regular training of teachers among others.

He urged the participants to pay close attention to the resource persons and avail themselves of the opportunity to tap from their wealth of knowledge towards increasing their skills of mentoring.

Prof. Akinwumi also called on stakeholders to play their part and complement the governor’s efforts in uplifting the standard of education and ensuring that every child irrespective of their background has access to quality education.

While remarking, the SUBEB Commissioner for Human Resources Management, Dr. Olufunke Fajobi said that successful application of the training content would significantly impact on the state basic education sector, adding that the trainees should be ready to cascade the knowledge gained to their colleagues in their respective LGEAs.

Similarly the SUBEB Commissioner for Project Management, Barrister (Dr.) Kayode Adeoye expressed confidence in the impact of the training and therefore encouraged participants to maximize the opportunity to enhance learning outcomes in the basic schools.

Resource persons at the workshop including Dr. Sunday Adegbesan and Dr. Oresajo Olasunkanmi from NIEPA – Ondo led the trainees through topics such as Roles of School Support Officers, Use of School Support Monitoring Instrument, Improving Classroom Practices, Conducting Lesson Observation, Pre- Observation & Post- Observation, Strengthening Leadership in Schools, Strategies for Effective Mentoring, etc

The lectures were professionally discharged to effectively prepare and equip them with knowledge and skills necessary for school support.

The participants appreciated the organizers of the program, expressing their confidence that the training had emphasized the importance of mentorship in enhancing teachers’ professionalism and improving learners’ outcomes, adding that they have been more enlightened on how to provide effective support and guidance to teachers.

Present at the opening ceremony were the SUBEB Ag. Permanent Secretary Mr. Olufemi Dada, Directors and Deputy Directors.
