Popular Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, has shed light on the reason behind her divorce from actor Adeniyi Johnson, revealing that her family had expressed strong reservations about the union before it even began.
In an interview with media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the actress explained that although her family prayed and received divine warning against the marriage, she went ahead regardless.
“My family actually sought God’s guidance and warned me that it wouldn’t work, but I didn’t listen,” she admitted.
The marriage, which lasted for about two years, eventually ended in divorce.
Speaking on her current relationship with fellow actor Kolawole Ajeyemi, Toyin was full of praise, describing their union as one built on love, faith, and mutual respect.
“In real life, he is very calm and a prayer warrior. Whenever I went to Abeokuta, he was always there. We became close, started dating, and I began to get fond of him. He would go to work and I would follow him,” she said.
Toyin revealed that she initially kept the relationship private, but eventually introduced him to her family. “When I was sure, I took him to meet my parents, and he did the same. We had a small introduction, then I got pregnant and the marriage followed.”
She said her family, after praying about the new relationship, confirmed it was the right one. “God revealed he was my husband. Today, we have two kids — a boy and a girl.”
The actress also spoke about the joy and stability her marriage has brought into her life. “Trust me, I married one of the best. I won’t say the best because I look up to other good marriages like my godmother’s, but my husband is one of the best.”
