The Sole Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area in Rivers State, Hon. Goodluck Iheamnacho, has tendered his resignation, sparking speculation and tension across the local political space.
Iheamnacho’s resignation was formally communicated through a letter addressed to the Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral (retd.) Ibok-Ete Ibas. In the letter, he cited a personal decision to return to private life as the reason for his exit.

Part of the letter reads:
“Sequel to the above subject matter, I humbly write to your noble office to convey to you my resignation as the Administrator, Ahoada East LGA. My decision is informed by my desire to return back to the private sector.”
He also expressed appreciation to the state government and the people of Ahoada East for the opportunity to serve, stating:
“My sincere gratitude goes to the government of Rivers State and the good people of Ahoada East for finding me worthy to serve as Administrator of Ahoada East LGA from 11th day of April 2025 to 20th day of July 2025.”
The announcement, which circulated widely on Friday via social media and local political platforms, has led to widespread curiosity and unease. Security operatives were reportedly seen at the Ahoada East Council headquarters shortly after the news broke, indicating possible concerns about order and safety.
Though the resignation letter points to a voluntary exit, questions linger among residents and political observers who wonder if Iheamnacho was pressured to step down. In the Nigerian political environment, particularly in Rivers State, it is uncommon for appointed officials to resign without external influences.
As of press time, no official reason beyond Iheamnacho’s stated intentions has been confirmed, and the Rivers State Government is yet to issue a public response on the development.
