Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his timely intervention in the state’s prolonged political crisis.
Fubara said the President’s mediation played a critical role in helping him and his deputy, Dr. Ngozi Odu, remain in office despite the turbulence.

He made this known during a gathering organised in his honour by the Simplified Movement at their secretariat in Port Harcourt.
He urged his supporters to remain grateful to President Tinubu, stressing that without the President’s involvement, the situation could have worsened. “We must thank Mr. President. His intervention brought calm and allowed us to continue serving you,” Fubara said.
He also appreciated the people of Rivers State and Nigerians at large for their support, loyalty, and prayers during the challenging times.
While addressing his followers, Fubara urged them to understand that political crises are not always resolved through protests alone. He pleaded with those who may have felt disappointed by some of his actions to forgive him, adding that his decisions were guided by the need to protect the peace and unity of the state.
“There is no reason why there will not be peace between me and my oga,” he said, referring to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
The governor also revealed that several peace meetings had taken place since the President’s intervention, including private meetings held at Wike’s residence.
Though he regretted the inability to commission new projects to mark May 29, Governor Fubara expressed gratitude to his supporters for their continued solidarity.
President Tinubu had earlier announced the suspension of Governor Fubara, his deputy, and members of the state assembly for six months, following a prolonged political feud that had unsettled the oil-rich state.
