I’m waiting for PDP to zone presidency to South — Wike

Wike, a former Governor of Rivers State, said he remained fully committed to the Tinubu administration and had no plans to challenge the President whom he is currently serving.

Speaking in an interview with BBC News Pidgin on Saturday, Wike stated: “I no go contest. Why I go contest against person wey I dey work for?”

He added that he does not see any strong opposition capable of defeating President Tinubu at the moment. “Dem say dem go zone am go South. Make dem zone am first. When we reach bridge, we go know how we go cross am,” he said.

On the lingering political tension in Rivers State, Wike denied being at war with suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, describing him as “my boy” and “my son.” He blamed unnamed political actors for the ongoing crisis in the state.

“That one no be fight. He na my boy, my pikin. Why I go fight am? I dey fight people wey wan collect wetin dem no work for. If you no defeat dem well, dem go feel say dem fit win. You must defeat dem completely,” Wike said.

He further accused some external influences of misleading Fubara and vowed to resist their actions until they are politically silenced.

“Dem dey shame now because dem dey lose. Na dem dey push Fubara,” he said.
