The cooperation of the public is important for the efforts of the police in the fight against crimes in the society.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, Ajani Omolabi made the remark while addressing stakeholders at the Okesa Central Police Station, Ado-Ekiti, during his visit to Ekiti State.
He stressed the need for members of the public to collaborate with the police as they cannot do it alone. Adding that the only way to fight crimes and criminalities is to see police as friends. To him, there is need to give credible information because the only way criminals can be driven out of any environment is when their secrets are revealed.
”Some people are saying when you give information to the police, some officers will reveal it. Gone are the days. The era of technology has made that to be untrue. Let us imbibe technology in the area of giving information”.
He pointed out that it is important to have vigilantes that will be working with the police.
The police chief explained that the police are to work for the people as it is their duty, expressing the readiness of the police to work and ensure that criminals are driven out of any environment. He said police are posted to communities to ensure peace.
He appreciated the stakeholders for their contributions to peace in the state. The AIG also commended the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji for his assistance to the command, pledging more commitment of the command to their job.
The Ekiti Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, said since his arrival, the rate of crimes has reduced and the state is enjoying peaceful environment. He assured the continued commitment of his officers and men to their duty. Just as the stakeholders promised to continue to contribute to peace in the state.
