The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES) Chapel, has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, and his Deputy, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, on their inauguration for a second term in office.
The Chapel, in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Comrade Kelechi David and Secretary, Comrade Adedayo Adeleye, commended Governor Oyebanji for addressing the longstanding power supply challenges at BSES through the station’s connection to an Independent Power Plant (IPP), following its earlier connection to the national grid in his first tenure.

It described the intervention as a significant step towards improving the corporation’s operational efficiency and fulfilling the Governor’s commitment to addressing the station’s needs during his visit.
While appreciating the Governor for the improvement, the union appealed for further intervention through the provision of modern broadcasting equipment, working tools, utility vehicles and additional personnel for the News and Current Affairs and Engineering departments.
The union said the provisions would strengthen the station’s capacity to deliver quality broadcasting services to the people of the state.
The NUJ BSES Chapel also congratulated Mr Olayinka Oyebode on his reappointment as Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, describing it as recognition of his competence, professionalism and experience in government communication.
It noted that Oyebode’s service across successive administrations, including those of former Governor Kayode Fayemi and Governor Oyebanji, demonstrated his capacity to manage government-media relations effectively.
The union particularly commended him for his accessibility, cordial relationship with journalists and understanding of the challenges facing media practitioners in the state.
It expressed confidence that his renewed mandate would further strengthen information dissemination and promote constructive engagement between the government and the people.
The union pledged continued cooperation with the Chief Press Secretary while reaffirming its commitment to responsible journalism, balanced reporting, media independence and professional ethics.
It urged Oyebode to sustain his cordial relationship with journalists and continue promoting an enabling environment for effective media practice in Ekiti State.
The NUJ BSES Chapel also congratulated Professor Habibat Adubiaro on her appointment as Secretary to the State Government and Mr Oyeniyi Adebayo on his appointment as Chief of Staff to the Governor.
The union expressed appreciation to Governor Oyebanji for retaining competent hands in key positions and wished the appointees success in their respective responsibilities.
