NUC Approves Three New Programmes for FUTES-Iyin, Varsity Reopens Admission Portal

The approval, conveyed in a letter dated September 11, 2026, covers Artificial Intelligence, Telecommunication Science, and Tourism and Hospitality Management.

The development followed a resource verification exercise conducted by the Commission at the University on August 27, 2026, during which its team assessed facilities, personnel and other resources for the programmes.

According to the University, the approval comes as it prepares for its second academic session, with the admission portal reopened to enable qualified candidates to apply for the newly approved programmes.

Speaking on the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gbenga Aribisala, said the programmes were designed to respond to emerging national and global needs while complementing the institution’s technological and environmental mandate.

“We are not expanding our programme base simply to increase our number of students. Every programme we introduce must have a purpose, must respond to a need and must fit into the vision for which this university was established,” he said.

Aribisala said the University had deliberately invested in the human and physical resources required to run the programmes, stressing that expansion would not be at the expense of quality.

With the approval, the three new programmes will broaden opportunities for prospective students seeking training in rapidly evolving fields such as artificial intelligence, telecommunications, tourism and hospitality.

The University has announced the reopening of its admission portal for the 2026/2027 academic session specifically for candidates interested in the new programmes.

The portal, accessible at http://portal.futes.edu.ng/apply, will be open for one week, from Tuesday, October 6 to Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

Prospective applicants are advised to read all registration guidelines carefully before applying and to effect a change of institution to FUTES-IYIN and change of programme to any of the newly approved courses on the JAMB CAPS within the stipulated period.

The University noted that it had earlier commenced its 2026/2027 admission exercise and closed screening registration after the initial application window, adding that the current reopening is solely to accommodate applicants for the new programmes.

FUTES-IYIN said it had completed its first academic year and was strengthening its academic, administrative and infrastructural structures ahead of the new session.
