The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of an 18-year-old housewife, Saidat Jibril, for allegedly killing her husband, Salisu Idris, aged 30, during a violent altercation.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the spokesperson of the Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the incident happened in the early hours of Monday, May 6, 2025, at Farawa Quarters in Kano.
“Following a distress report around 12:35am, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, immediately dispatched a team of detectives to the scene,” the statement noted.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect reportedly used a sharp knife to slit her husband’s throat during a dispute. The victim was rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where he was confirmed dead by doctors.
Saidat is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Homicide Section, and will soon be charged to court for the offence of culpable homicide.
CP Bakori reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for crime and violence, assuring residents of a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.
