NEW GOVERNOR INAUGURATION: Obaseki Dissolves Edo Cabinet

This announcement was made on Friday, just days before Obaseki is set to hand over the reins on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

Obaseki, who has served as governor since his inauguration on November 12, 2016, is concluding his tenure following the victory of Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, in the September 21, 2024, governorship election.

Okpebholo defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, to secure the governorship.

The dissolution of the cabinet came shortly after a valedictory session held at the Government House in Benin City, the capital of Edo State. During the session, Governor Obaseki expressed his gratitude to the members of his executive council for their dedication in advancing his administration’s vision of transforming Edo State.

He also extended his appreciation to the people of Edo for their unwavering support, prayers, and cooperation throughout his administration.

As a gesture of appreciation, outgoing commissioners and heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) presented Governor Obaseki with awards and gifts during the farewell event.
