The incident was allegedly carried out by Rotimi Joseph Olabiowonu, a.k.a. “METILO”, former Chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Ekiti State Chapter, and some members of his gang, in connection with a land dispute.

According to the Command, the incident occurred on Sunday, 14th September 2026, at about 8:45 p.m.

It was alleged that METILO and five other accomplices arrived at the residence of the deceased in a Toyota bus, forcefully dragged him out, assaulted him and abducted him to an unknown destination.

The statement further alleged that while the vehicle was in motion, the suspects pushed the victim out, causing him to sustain severe head injuries.

Noticing the gravity of his condition, the suspects reportedly took him to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.

Following the report, operatives of the Command visited the scene and commenced investigation.
