…Describes Claims as Baseless, Expresses Confidence in Peter Obi’s Victory in 2027

The Ekiti State Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Hon. Musa Arogundade, has dismissed as false and baseless rumours making the rounds regarding his purported resignation from office.

Addressing journalists in Ado-Ekiti, Hon. Arogundade stated categorically that he remains the duly recognized State Chairman of the NDC in Ekiti State and has no intention of relinquishing the position.
Hon. Arogundade recalled that he was inaugurated as State Chairman during the party’s National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting in May 2026 at the national secretariat.
He stressed that in line with the party constitution, any decision to resign would be formally communicated to the national leadership of the party and not through unofficial channels or individuals.
“I want to debunk the rumour circulating in the media that I, Hon. Musa Arogundade, have resigned as the State Chairman of the NDC in Ekiti State,” he said.
“If I were to resign, due process demands that I submit my letter of resignation to the national body of the party that inaugurated me, and not to any individual.”
The State Chairman noted that disagreements are normal in any political organization and do not translate to a breakdown of party structures.
Hon. Arogundade appealed to all members of the NDC in Ekiti State to remain calm, united, and focused on the task of building the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“There is no rift between me and the leadership of the party,” he stated. “The state executive committee and I are working together in unity for the progress and growth of the NDC in Ekiti State.”
The Chairman expressed strong confidence in the party’s prospects in the forthcoming general elections, particularly at the presidential level.
He affirmed that the NDC is mobilizing at all levels to ensure victory for its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, as well as for all candidates of the party in Ekiti State and across the country.
“By God’s grace, come 2027, our party will succeed in the general elections,” Hon. Arogundade said.
“Our presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, will emerge victorious as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We will work collectively to ensure success for all our candidates at the national and state levels.”
He concluded by urging party members to disregard misinformation and to channel their energy toward grassroots mobilization and strengthening of party structures across the 16 Local Government Areas of Ekiti State.
