KANO: Gov. Yusuf Dismisses Allegations of N2bn Diversion, Defends Kwankwaso’s Integrity

Speaking at a gathering with 484 elected ward councillors at the Coronation Hall, Government House, on Sunday evening, Governor Yusuf insisted that neither he nor his mentor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, had misused public funds.

The governor was reacting to recent statements made by Dr. Bichi, who alleged that N2 billion was being diverted monthly from local government allocations and that Senator Kwankwaso was benefiting from it.

“Let me make it clear—this government is clean from top to bottom. No thief can stay among us. We are content with what God has provided and fully committed to using public funds for the good of the people,” Yusuf stated.

He questioned the motives behind the allegations, noting that the former SSG was once a key part of the administration but only started making accusations after leaving office.

“I am shocked that someone who was given such a position of trust is now claiming that we have stolen ten times more than the last administration. This doesn’t sound like a rational person,” he said.

Governor Yusuf came to the defence of Kwankwaso, calling him a “man of integrity” with a proven track record of public service.

“Senator Kwankwaso is no thief. The people of Kano are proud of him. His name cannot be dragged in the mud by bitter individuals trying to gain relevance,” he added.

The governor urged critics to focus on issues and not resort to personal attacks or baseless accusations. He also questioned the authenticity of Bichi’s loyalty to Kano State.

“No true Kano indigene would make such damaging and false statements against leaders who have served this state with honour,” he said.
