A UK-based Nigerian nurse, Nnena Miriam, has been found dead in her Leeds apartment under tragic circumstances, just days before her scheduled traditional wedding.
According to the group Fellow Nurses Africa, her body was discovered by police after a missing person report was filed by a concerned friend. Miriam had not been seen or heard from since her last shift the previous Sunday, prompting her friend to raise the alarm after repeated calls went unanswered.
“She was found lifeless in her room earlier this week. Tuesday, April 29, was meant to be her special day,” the organisation said in a statement, noting she had recently returned from Nigeria after her introduction ceremony.
Described by colleagues as a kind, dedicated, and resilient healthcare professional, Miriam’s sudden passing has left her community in shock and mourning.
Authorities have yet to release details on the cause of death as investigations continue.
