Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has praised the high turnout of All Progressives Congress (APC) members across the state’s 177 wards during Saturday’s presidential primaries, describing it as a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and a demonstration of the party’s unity and internal democracy.

Oyebanji, who participated in the affirmation exercise at Ward 6, Ikogosi-Ekiti, at about 10:35 a.m., said the process was peaceful, orderly, and reflective of the party’s commitment to inclusive decision-making.

Speaking to journalists after voting, the governor said the enthusiasm shown by members underscored their unity and confidence in Tinubu’s leadership. He noted that the exercise was conducted without rancour.
“This is historic,” Oyebanji said. “It is the first time all party members have had the opportunity to directly participate in selecting the party’s presidential flag bearer.”
He added that in his ward, 620 of the 624 registered members voted in favour of Tinubu’s return as the party’s candidate. Reports from across the state, he said, indicated that the exercise was peaceful.

The governor commended the APC for deepening internal democracy and giving every member a platform to contribute to the selection process.
“If performance is a yardstick for electoral success, then there is little doubt about APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in the January 2027 presidential election,” Oyebanji said.
He expressed confidence that the overwhelming support witnessed during the primaries, both in Ekiti and nationwide, signaled strong backing for the president ahead of the general election.
