Ducks Dispute Late Call as Knights Take Game 1 After Contentious Third-Period Goal

With the game tied 2-2 at 12:47 of the third, Vegas forward Mark Stone was credited with the go-ahead goal following a net-front scramble.

The Ducks challenged for goaltender interference, arguing Stone made contact with Lukas Dostal in the crease. After review, officials ruled the goal would stand, citing no conclusive evidence to overturn the call on the ice.

Anaheim head coach Greg Cronin said postgame that the team didn’t get an explanation we agree with but would not elaborate. Dostal finished with 31 saves. The Ducks tied the game twice, including a Troy Terry power-play goal early in the third.

Jack Eichel added an empty-netter for Vegas. Adin Hill made 27 saves for the Knights, who took a 1-0 series lead.

Game 2 is Tuesday in Anaheim. The NHL Situation Room said all reviews follow the standard process outlined in Rule 38.
