The Ekiti State Police Command has cautioned political actors and supporters against the destruction and defacing of campaign posters and billboards ahead of the governorship election.
The Command said it has observed, with concern, reports of individuals suspected to be political party loyalists engaging in the removal and vandalism of campaign materials across the state.

It emphasized that the destruction of political banners and billboards contravenes the Electoral Act and infringes on the right to freedom of expression guaranteed by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Command warned that any person or group found engaging in such acts, or in any conduct capable of breaching public peace, will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Political parties and candidates were advised to conduct their activities within the provisions of the law and to caution their supporters against acts that could undermine a peaceful electoral process.
Parents and guardians were also urged to warn their children and wards against being used by politicians to disrupt public order or compromise the goal of a free, fair, and credible election.
The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, called on residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant, and to promptly report any suspicious activity or conduct likely to cause apprehension.
