Dr. Wole Oluyede, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the June 20 Ekiti State governorship election, has stated that he relies on God the Father, not any political godfather, as he campaigns for the top job.
In a special interview on New Cruise FM, Ikere Ekiti, Oluyede emphasized his faith in God and the support of the people of Ekiti State, particularly his hometown, Ikere, where a restoration rally was held in his honor on Tuesday.

“My political godfather is God the Father, not a man,” Oluyede said. “The people of Ikere have made it clear they want a governor, not a deputy governor. They believe I am the right person for the job.”
Oluyede, a medical doctor with over 40 years of experience in five countries, including Australia, lamented the poor state of roads in Ekiti and promised to develop a robust road network to attract investors and create wealth for the people.
He also criticized the state’s health budget as inadequate and pledged to generate ₦72 billion annually from the health sector if elected governor. “Ekiti can generate ₦72 billion from the health sector, but I won’t disclose how for now,” he said.
On education, Oluyede assured that it would be accessible, available, and of global standard, with emphasis on science and mathematics. He also promised improved welfare for civil servants and pensioners, including the payment of pensions and gratuities.
The PDP candidate further assured that Ekiti would achieve independent electricity generation through an Independent Power Plant, ensuring stable power supply without reliance on the national grid.
Oluyede, who previously contested the governorship primary against Kayode Fayemi in the APC, said he joined the PDP about two years ago due to a lack of internal democracy in his former party.
“PDP is now everywhere in Ekiti,” he said. “Politics is local, and we are well grounded in the state. I am an Australia-based medical doctor, but I am very present here, spending an average of two weeks every month in Ekiti.”
The restoration rally in Ikere Ekiti has energized Oluyede’s campaign, and he is confident of victory on June 20.
