INEC has kicked off a nationwide voter revalidation exercise, aiming to clean up the electoral register and boost confidence in the system.

The commission says the process is necessary to weed out inaccuracies, including multiple registrations, transfers, and deceased persons.
Speaking on the exercise, INEC emphasized that it’s an administrative audit, not a fresh registration, and will be conducted uniformly across the country.
“We’re committed to transparency and fairness,” the commission said, brushing off allegations of bias.
With Ekiti and Osun elections looming, INEC is laser-focused on getting it right. “Our allegiance is to the Constitution and the Nigerian people,” the commission stressed, urging stakeholders to support the process.
The revalidation exercise will involve verifying registered voters, addressing data issues, and enhancing the reliability of voter data.
Digital options will be available for ease of access, and all stakeholders will be carried along.
