Fresh steps have been taken at the National Assembly as the Senate constituted a 12-member committee to harmonise positions with the House of Representatives on the Electoral Amendment Act, following growing public reactions to the proposed changes.
Speaking during an emergency plenary on Tuesday, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, formally announced the lawmakers selected to represent the upper chamber in the joint legislative process.

Included in the Senate delegation are Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Senator Tahir Mungono, alongside other members expected to engage with their House counterparts to fine-tune the bill.
This move suggests the National Assembly is responding to concerns surrounding the Electoral Amendment Act, with the joint committee expected to smooth disagreements and strengthen public confidence in the electoral reform process.
