2027: Amaechi Speaks on Vice Presidential Talks with Atiku

Amaechi made his position clear after recent political conversations linked him to a possible Atiku running-mate slot if Labour Party’s Peter Obi declines a proposed alliance.

The speculation gained traction after Atiku’s close associate, publisher Dele Momodu, suggested in an interview that Amaechi could become a preferred alternative should Obi refuse to pair with the former Vice President.

Momodu had argued that Amaechi’s political strength and past influence within the All Progressives Congress positioned him as a major force who once delivered massive support to the Buhari presidency.

Reacting through his media aide, David Iyofor, the former Rivers State governor dismissed all claims of alliance talks, stressing that he is pursuing the presidency and has no interest in accepting a subordinate role.

Iyofor emphasised that Amaechi is committed to running for President of Nigeria and would not accept any offer to be a deputy to any candidate.

He added that the former APC presidential contender has already aligned his political ambition with the African Democratic Congress, which he joined earlier this year.

Iyofor noted that Amaechi believes that power should return to Southern Nigeria in 2027 and that his campaign under ADC reflects that conviction.

The statement further urged politicians and political strategists to stop using Amaechi’s name in discussions about possible running mates or alliance arrangements.

Amaechi, who competed for the APC presidential ticket in 2023 before exiting the party, has since been positioning himself for a full presidential run in the next election cycle under his new platform.
