The United States government has confirmed that it is currently offering support to Israel in repelling missile attacks believed to be linked to the ongoing conflict with Iran.
A US official, who spoke with AFP under condition of anonymity, said American forces are “assisting in shooting down missiles targeting Israel.”
The official, however, declined to provide further details regarding the level or scope of the US involvement in the missile defence efforts.
This development comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, with both countries engaging in repeated military actions in recent weeks.
The US has long been a close ally of Israel and has consistently pledged to support the country’s right to defend itself against external threats.
