President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to return to the country today, Monday, April 21, 2025, after spending close to two weeks abroad.
This was confirmed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.
Onanuga made the disclosure in a brief post on social media platform X, stating simply: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will return home today.”
The Presidency had earlier assured Nigerians that President Tinubu remained fully in charge of national affairs during his trip. A statement issued last Thursday by Mr. Onanuga noted that the President had travelled from Paris to London over the weekend and had been in constant communication with key government officials throughout his stay.
According to the statement, President Tinubu has continued to oversee important matters of state, including giving directives to security chiefs to tackle rising insecurity in some parts of the country.
Onanuga explained that the President’s trip was in line with a planned two-week schedule, and that his return falls within the timeline communicated earlier, following the Easter holidays.
“The President’s dedication to his responsibilities remains firm, and government operations have continued without disruption,” the statement said, adding that Nigerians should remain assured that governance has not been affected.
President Tinubu departed Nigeria for Paris on April 2, 2025, for what the Presidency described as a two-week working visit aimed at reviewing the performance of his administration and assessing key achievements so far.
However, the extended duration of his trip drew criticism from opposition leaders, who raised concerns over increasing insecurity across the country, particularly in Plateau, Zamfara, Borno, and Benue States.
