The attention of the Irawo Owuro Campaign Team of Otunba Oluwadare Owolabi (Ìràwọ̀ Òwúrọ̀) has been drawn to misleading claims being circulated in certain quarters suggesting that Sen. Cyril Fasuyi has emerged as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ekiti North Senatorial seat in the forthcoming general elections.
“W1e consider it necessary to set the record straight in the interest of truth and party unity.
“As at the time of this statement, no such decision has been taken by the party, and all aspirants remain very much in the race. Aspirants across the district are actively consulting with party leaders, members, and stakeholders in line with the democratic culture of our great party.
“It is also important to remind the public that the APC has already outlined the timeline for its internal electoral processes. In accordance with the party’s guidelines, primary elections, regardless of the mode adopted by the party-are scheduled to hold between April 23 and May 30, 2026. Until that process is duly conducted and concluded by the appropriate organs of the party, no individual can legitimately claim to have emerged as a consensus candidate.
“We therefore urge party faithful and the good people of Ekiti North Senatorial District to disregard these unfounded claims. Such narratives represent nothing more than wishful thinking by lassitude opportunists who appear eager to find an easy route to retain power rather than submit themselves to the transparent democratic process of the party.
“The APC remains a party founded on fairness, due process, and internal democracy, and we are confident that when the time comes, the will of party members will prevail through the appropriate channels.
“We encourage everyone to remain calm, focused, and supportive of the ongoing consultations by aspirants who are committed to offering purposeful and effective representation for the people of Ekiti North”.
