The Police Service Commission has commenced a nationwide recruitment exercise for 50,000 Constables into the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen community policing and improve internal security across the country.
The Sokoto State Police Command made this known in a public announcement on Monday, stating that the online application portal officially opened on December 15, 2025, following a directive by President Bola Tinubu to expand the manpower of the Force.

The Commission emphasised that the recruitment exercise is completely free, warning applicants to avoid unauthorised individuals, agents or websites claiming to offer assistance.
Information released by the PSC stated that applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and must possess a valid National Identification Number. Candidates are also required to be medically, physically and psychologically fit.
It was further stated that prospective applicants must not have any criminal conviction or record of financial misconduct and must meet all conditions outlined on the official recruitment portal.
According to the Commission, recruitment will be conducted under two categories. Applicants for the General Duty cadre must be between 18 and 25 years old and possess a minimum of five credits in WAEC, SSCE or NECO in not more than two sittings, including English Language and Mathematics. They must also meet the height requirement of 1.67 metres for males and 1.64 metres for females.
For the Specialists cadre, candidates are expected to be between 18 and 28 years old with at least four relevant credits. They must also have recognised professional qualifications or trade test certificates and a minimum of three years practical experience in areas such as medical services, information and communication technology, engineering, driving and motor mechanics.
The PSC announced that the application portal will remain open for six weeks and will close at 11.59 pm on January 25, 2026.
Interested and qualified Nigerians were advised to apply only through the official portal at npfapplication.psc.gov.ng, noting that multiple applications or any attempt to influence the recruitment process would result in automatic disqualification.
The Sokoto State Police Command urged eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity to serve the nation, assuring that the recruitment exercise would be transparent, fair and based strictly on merit.
