Prominent Nigerians, including former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida and ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, have expressed deep sadness over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Obasanjo, in a statement to journalists, described Buhari as “a soldier, an administrator and a statesman whose experience was still needed.”
He added, “This is a great loss to the nation. At a time like this, we need the guidance of people like him.”
Babangida, visibly emotional, said his friendship with Buhari dated back to 1962 at the Nigerian Military Training College. “He was quiet but resolute, principled, and loyal to Nigeria.”
Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who served with Buhari for eight years, said: “Nigeria has lost a true patriot. He led with discipline, courage, and integrity.”
He confirmed that he and his wife, Dolapo, spoke with the Buhari family on Sunday to offer their sympathies.
