A United States-based activist, Dr. Sandra Duru, popularly known as Prof. Mgbeke, has alleged that the sexual harassment accusation levelled against Senate President Godswill Akpabio by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was politically motivated and aimed at preventing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Dr. Duru, during a Facebook live session on Thursday, claimed she had submitted phone conversations and other materials allegedly involving the suspended Kogi Central Senator to authorities in the United States and other countries for forensic examination.
She further alleged that Senator Natasha attempted to bribe her with ₦200 million to support a separate accusation of organ harvesting against Akpabio, linking it to the death of a young girl, Iniubong Umoren, in 2021—a case that has already been concluded by authorities.
“She said the whole idea was to force the Senate President to resign so that the so-called ‘Yoruba government’ would not go beyond four years,” Duru claimed, insisting the senator revealed there was no evidence of sexual harassment.
The activist also accused Natasha of harbouring a political agenda, allegedly promising her governorship of Kogi State or the Minister of Petroleum slot in exchange for successfully targeting Akpabio.
“She is on a mission to destroy men,” Duru said. “She lacks humility and moral values.”
She displayed call logs and WhatsApp chats as part of her evidence, alleging they counter Senator Natasha’s claim that both women had never interacted.
Natasha Fires Back, Dismisses Allegations as False and Manipulated
Responding swiftly, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan described the allegations as baseless and the voice recordings in the livestream as fabricated.
In a statement released on Friday, she said: “I have carefully watched a livestream by one Sandra C. Duru on May 1st. The content, including the voice effect credited to me, is entirely untrue and manipulated to serve her motive of playing a script for Senator Akpabio.”
She further stated that she would respond more comprehensively at a later time, adding that Sandra Duru, who also goes by the alias Prof. Mgbeke, has a history of misleading the public.
This development comes amid growing tensions in Nigeria’s political space, with accusations of blackmail, forgery, and political manipulation taking centre stage.
The Nigeria Police and other investigative bodies are yet to make official statements regarding the claims made by either party.
