Popular Nigerian gospel singer, Bunmi Akinnaanu, widely known as Omije Ojumi after her hit song, has died.
The death of the gospel artiste was announced on Tuesday through a statement shared on Instagram by her colleague, Ayo Melody, on behalf of the family.

According to the statement, Akinnaanu passed away on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, at a hospital in Lagos.
The family expressed deep sadness over her passing and prayed for the repose of her soul.
The statement, which was signed by Olawale Akinnaanu on behalf of the family, did not disclose the cause of death.
In recent months, the late singer had publicly requested prayers following complications with her leg.
In October 2025, a video circulated online showing her during a church service at G.F. David Ministries in Ibadan, where she sat with her leg stretched out while prayers were offered for her healing.
During the service, a cleric spoke about persistent bleeding in the leg and described the condition as a spiritual challenge.
However, there has been no official confirmation linking the ailment to her death.
Akinnaanu began her music journey at a young age and later resigned from a banking career to pursue gospel music on a full-time basis.
She rose to national prominence with her widely acclaimed song Omije Ojumi, which became popular in churches and Christian homes across Nigeria.
She also released other gospel tracks, including O Ti Sure, which further endeared her to gospel music lovers.
