Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has said his visit to President Bola Tinubu was to officially notify him of his return to office following the lifting of his suspension.
Fubara, who resumed duty last Thursday after six months of emergency rule in the state, met the President at the State House, Abuja, on Monday evening.
Speaking with State House correspondents after the closed-door meeting, the governor described his discussion with the President as a “father-and-son” engagement focused on peace and stability in Rivers.
“You are aware that the suspension was lifted midnight, 17th, and I resumed on the 19th. I’m here to tell Mr President that I’m back and have also resumed my responsibility as Governor of Rivers State,” he said.
“It was a father and son discussion, telling him thank you and also pointing out areas he should guide me properly, so we don’t have a crisis again,” Fubara added.
