The Member representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency I at the House of Representatives, Hon. (AVM Rtd.) Rufus Adeniyi Ojuawo, has called for urgent diplomatic engagement and inter-agency action to resolve the situation involving a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft detained in Burkina Faso.
In a motion of urgent public importance, Ojuawo emphasized that the NAF C-130 aircraft made a precautionary landing in Bobo-Dioulasso due to safety concerns and not for any malicious intent. He stated that the aircraft was on a routine maintenance flight to Portugal, complying with international aviation standards.

The House has urged the Federal Government to leverage bilateral, ECOWAS, and African Union frameworks to resolve the matter and clear the aircraft from Burkina Faso. Relevant committees have been mandated to liaise with concerned Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to ensure prompt resolution.
The motion was supported by Hon. Ahmed Muniru, Hon. Donald Ojogho, Hon. Meidala Usman Balami, and Hon. Rurum Kabiru, who emphasized the need for swift diplomatic action to protect Nigeria’s diplomatic standing and regional relations.
