FCE Ilawe-Ekiti Matricilulates 345 Students, Urges Purpose, Discipline   … As Acting Provost Highlights NCE-to-Degree Option

By Samuel Sunday

The second matriculation ceremony of the institution was held on Wednesday at the college auditorium with members of management, parents, deans of schools and other stakeholders in attendance.

Addressing the matriculating students, the Acting Provost and College Librarian, Dr. Abdulmumin Isah, described the occasion as a milestone in their academic journey and a commitment to learning.

He reminded them that admission was not the final destination but the beginning of a journey toward achieving their dreams. He urged them to seize opportunities, turn challenges into stepping stones, and uphold integrity throughout their studies.

“Be purposeful, value your time, embrace technology and continue learning beyond the classroom. Avoid bad company, because negative influences can derail your academic goals,” Dr. Isah said.

The Acting Provost highlighted the Federal Government’s dual mandate policy, which allows colleges of education to award both the Nigeria Certificate in Education, NCE, and bachelor’s degrees.

He explained that students can now complete their NCE and proceed to earn a degree within the same institution, eliminating the need to seek admission elsewhere.

Speaking with journalists after the ceremony, Dr. Isah encouraged the students to pursue their studies with determination and to remember the sacrifices of their parents as motivation to graduate with outstanding results.

Also speaking, the Ekiti State Coordinator of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Mr. Ganiyu Ishola, commended the college for its rapid growth since establishment in 2023.

He described FCE Ilawe-Ekiti as one of the fastest-growing federal colleges of education in the country and urged the students to remain disciplined and take advantage of the NCE-to-degree pathway.

The matriculation oath was administered by Dr. Khadijah Wuraola Graba before the Acting Provost formally declared the ceremony closed.
