The Management of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, has noted the resurfacing of a video online showing the deplorable condition of the Omolayo Hostel, located outside the university campus.
The University wishes to state that this video first circulated in August 2025 and was addressed in a press release dated 30th August 2025, which clearly outlined the institution’s position on the facility.
While the University Management is concerned about the state of the hostel, it reiterates that the Omolayo Hostel is located outside the campus and is not the property of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti. Consequently, the University has no legal right or authority over the property.
The Management acknowledges and remains grateful for the philanthropic gesture of the late Dr. Lawrence Omolayo, who built the hostel several years ago. However, the University is not in a position to intervene in the internal affairs of the Omolayo family unless formally requested to do so.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatola Ayodele, hereby urges bloggers and online media platforms to desist from tagging the University in misleading or inappropriate posts relating to the hostel.
