Ekiti State Government has urged contractors handling government projects across the state to strictly follow project specifications and adhere to approved timelines.
The Director General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, Mr. James Folorunso, emphasized the commitment of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration to delivering quality projects that will stand the test of time and positively impact the lives of the people.
Folorunso, who is also a Special Adviser to the Governor, made this statement in Ado Ekiti on Saturday while monitoring ongoing projects, including the Ekiti State International Centre for Arts and Culture, Revenue Building, Indoor Sports Complex, and the House of Assembly Complex renovation.
He said, “Governor Oyebanji’s administration is committed to ensuring quality projects. We will not tolerate the use of substandard materials, and that is why we closely monitor every stage of the project, from foundation to completion.”
Expressing satisfaction with the progress of work, Folorunso urged contractors to speed up their efforts to meet project deadlines.
He explained that the monitoring exercise was part of the bureau’s responsibilities to ensure the state receives value for money. Before releasing payment to contractors, the bureau assesses the quality and progress of the work done.
“Our bureau monitors government projects closely, especially before issuing payment certificates. It is crucial to ensure compliance with established standards, which is why we visit the sites to physically assess the work, rather than relying solely on reports,” he said.
