The Ekiti State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for May will hold on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. across all Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas.
This month’s theme is “A Clean Environment is Everyone’s Responsibility: Stop Illegal Dumping of Sewage and Hazardous Substances.”

The theme stresses that cleanliness is key to preventing disease outbreaks and protecting public health.
The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe, urged residents to embrace the exercise as part of their civic duty.
“Environmental cleanliness remains essential to healthy living and sustainable development,” she said.
Due to the working visit of the Wife of the President to the state, there will be no restriction of movement during the exercise. However, residents are still expected to actively participate by cleaning their homes, drains, surroundings, and business premises.
Ahead of the exercise, market women are to clean their shops on Thursday, May 28, while public servants will clean their offices on Friday, May 29.
Environmental Health Officers from the Ministry of Environment, alongside LGA/LCDA officials, NGOs, and security agencies, will monitor the exercise and ensure compliance.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the government’s commitment to environmental health, stressing that maintaining a clean Ekiti requires collective responsibility and community participation.
