The League of Veteran Journalists, Ekiti State Chapter, has appealed to all stakeholders, particularly politicians and other participants in Saturday’s June 20, 2026 governorship election, to avoid violence and ensure a free and fair election.
In a communique issued at the end of its monthly meeting on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Press Centre, Ado-Ekiti, the League said Ekiti’s long-standing record of political peace must be sustained.

Publicity Secretary of the League, High Chief Olubunmi Ajibade, said the appeal was made under the chairmanship of Prince Kayode Oni.
He noted that Ekiti has remained politically peaceful for a long time and urged stakeholders to sustain the trend, adding that “all eyes are on the people of the state”.
The League also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to conduct the governorship election in accordance with the law and without bias.
